About

While the focus of this blog will be on bugs and books found close to home in Northfield, Minnesota, I expect it will radiate to far places and unexpected topics. Since 2007, I’ve been madly in pursuit of dragonflies. A citizen scientist volunteer for the Minnesota Odonata Survey, I became inordinately fond of these insects and have devoted much time to studying and writing about them in the intervening years. That work can be found elsewhere, in a few published works (several listed below) and, hopefully, in a forthcoming natural history book focused on the meadowhawk dragonflies (visit www.meadowhawks.info for more information on that project). The postings found here, however, are additional musings and encounters accumulated during this prolonged engagement with dragonflies. With any luck, the writing will be amusing and engaging to more people than just myself.
